There may be several mailing events to consider when looking for your rollover check.

  1. Mail from your 401(k) provider to your IRA provider directly: In some cases, it’s possible for your 401(k) provider to mail a check directly to your IRA provider. If this is the case, check your email to see if you were provided a tracking number. If you do not have a tracking number, contact the support team of your 401(k) provider. Note, it typically takes 5-10 business days for the check to arrive.

  2. Mail from your 401(k) provider to you: If your 401(k) provider mailed a check to you, look to see if they provided a tracking number. If they haven’t, you may need to contact their support team to inquire about the check. Note, it typically takes 5-10 business days for the check to arrive.

  3. Mail from you to your IRA provider: You may have received a prepaid envelope from Capitalize to send your check to your IRA provider. If this is the case, you should have a tracking number to check the status of your mail. You can find this tracking number in your email and on your rollover dashboard.

In the event your mail is taking longer than 10 business days, contact us and we will assist you in the right next step. Note that the check is typically made out to your IRA institution and can be reissued if needed.
